"Roller Dog"
Anne has been creative as far back as she can recall whether it was pretending to be a spy in secret headquarters, the huge mimosa tree in the backyard, or drawing and designing her own paper dolls. The search to find the best way to express her spirit in her art has been a fun, exciting, and sometimes an exasperating journey.
Anne received her bachelor's degree in art, and then proceeded to work various fields not using artistic talents. It wasn't until she reached her 40s that she realized she did have to paint like Da Vinci or Michelangelo, she could create whatever made her happy. She has never really believed in the notion of following "the rules."
Using various found and re-purposed objects, Anne creates whimsical creatures, shrines and utilitarian items. She finds things at garage sales, estate sales, flea markets, and occasionally someone's garbage. She uses glue and screws for most of the assemblages. She enjoys getting to work using the "big boys" of tools like the drill press, jigsaws, table saws, etc. has been a blast and Anne still has all of her fingers (so far).
