Annie is a functional ware potter living in Black Mountain, North Carolina. The practical focus of her work is to create utilitarian pottery with mostly porcelain clays and a wide variety of unique glazes. In her most recent work she is using a variety of colors to enhance the textural, organic surfaces. Her pieces are designed for giving and they represent a convergence of the dual passions for creation and service.
Annie imagines the works as vehicles for hospitality, as they offer and receive simultaneously. She likes to consider the pots in the context of what they are destined to hold and how they will fit into ever changing design trends. Pottery has a timeless element because of its deep history and that is important to her as she strives to make the pieces that are also relevant to her love for interior design.
Having a lifestyle in the outdoors keeps Annie highly motivated in her work in clay. She works at her studio she has just built in her house where she lives with her husband, sons and dog Mocha. Annie feels very blessed to have such a life as this, where she can live with people she adores and continue in her passion for clay.
