AnTHMGalleryNY: Art-Threads-HandMades

AnTHM: Art-Threads-HandMades opened in 2010, continues, as an online presence, to be an anchor of local and regional art.  In addition to two-dimensional art, AnTHM offers an array of locally hand-crafted, found-object art including roller dogs, folk-figurines, fiber art, FLAX-brand clothing, art cards, candles, jewelry, and one-of-a-kind funky gifts. There’s something truly for everyone at AnTHM.

Black Mountain Gallery Hits First Anniversary
By Callie Lawson: Photos by Katie Wallace
Post Date: 09.13.2011

AnTHM Gallery, Black Mountain’s freshest gallery of all things art, has been known to elicit responses of intrigue, curiosity, and excitement, and this is just from the sidewalk view. The gallery’s name alone, an acronym for art, threads, and hand-mades, evokes interest, and a step inside of the gallery’s inviting doors proves to be an inspiring experience, every time. Cappi Macsherry, a Mississippi native and owner of AnTHM, opened the gallery just a year ago in hopes of offering the Western North Carolina community a tapestry woven of fine and outsider art, artisan clothing, and jewelry. A quick look around the gallery is evidence that all of Cappi’s dreams for AnTHM were achieved. Color, vibrance, and beauty are rich and abundant throughout AnTHM. Some of Cappi’s favorite artists featured in the gallery include Ellen Langford of Mississippi, Becky Swann from North Carolina, Lamar Sorrento from Tennessee, and Lisa Chudy Dyess, also a Mississippi native. Ellen's paintings, playful and layered with color and texture, share wall space with Lisa’s pointillism pieces, mostly depicting her Mississippi heritage, while Sorrento’s love for music is illustrated through his bold and charismatic paintings of famous musicians. These equally talented yet very different artists’ presence in AnTHM demonstrates Cappi’s objective of promoting professional artists in their creative journey and providing a launching pad for artists who are just beginning.
Scarves made of fused fiber, hand-crafted glass plates and bowls, beautiful pottery, artful clothing, and hand-made jewelry are also available at AnTHM. In fact, almost all of the clothing at AnTHM is designed by Cappi through her clothing line, c00pmississippiraised. From the front of the gallery to the back, and up and down each wall, AnTHM is just as Cappi describes: “a jewel of an experience.” AnTHM Gallery resource is located in Upper Nyack, New York.  For more information, visit AnTHMgalleryny.com or email AnTHMgalleryny@gmail..com ...call 828.419.0049.
