New to the Black Mountain area, artist Patricia (Pat) Cotterill is turning heads with her heifers...guernseys, and more! Born in Scotland, Pat's lived in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. She now resides in Asheville NC with her husband. "All these places have left a deep impression and have given me a better understanding of the people and their cultures of art, music and food."
After painting in watercolor for several years, oil paint is now Pat's medium of choice. "I love the feel of the thick soft buttery paint and I try to show that in my work." Her subjects are of people, places and animals. "I take my camera everywhere with me and paint back at my studio the images I have captured, a moment in time, a dairy of everyday life. Light, shapes and color are my focus and hopefully I can be happy with what ends up on the canvas. I hope you are too!"
You can see more of Pat's work at AnTHM Gallery or in her studio space at the Red House, next to the Monte Vista Hotel, in Black Mountain NC.
