Rebecca “Reba” Word graduated from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga in 1997 with a BA in humanities and a minor in sculpture. She spent several years working for the City of Chattanooga as an arts programmer and educator putting on public art festivals, parades, gallery openings and classes. From 2001 to 2010 she lived in Ontario, Canada. During the eight years she lived in Toronto she showed jewelry and taught private art classes while completing her postgraduate degree as a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine.
Reba and her husband Brad moved to Black Mountain in 2010. She is in part-time private practice at Source For Well Being and a full-time mom to two rug-rats. Her metal work focuses around mixed metals, semi-precious stones and above all, texture. She strives to seamlessly combine function, durability, beauty and ornamentation in each unique piece.
