SoulKu
Inspiration Kits, Cards, Thanku...

Be the Change SoulKu is the “Be the Change” brainchild of Allison Blake and Elisa Van Arnam: two book club friends, wives and mommies. Determined to make a difference in the world and looking for an outlet to absorb some of their newly found, leftover energy, (now that the kids were in school full time!) Allison and Elisa meticulously shaped the vision for SoulKu-a globally connecting, kindness exporting, inspiration spreading antidote to the high tech/low touch society we live in.
The Mission, The Mantra “It is our mission with all SoulKu products to help people connect on a deeper level. Each product is created to bridge the gap between wanting to say/do something kind and actually doing it. We believe it is one of the most important things we can do as humans and we know that there are immeasurable rewards in giving, inspiring and experiencing connection.” Which is perfectly articulated in SoulKu’s company mantra, “Give. Inspire. Connect. Receive…Pass It On.”
Committed to Integrity SoulKu places high value on supporting non-profit organizations who seek to make a difference in the world through service projects and basic kindness. Each of SoulKu's products honor a specific individual charity and give 10% of their profits for that cause. SoulKu is also committed to working with local vendors whenever possible from graphic design, and printing to website programming and maintenance. We value our environment and print on paper that is responsibly forested and use only eco-friendly packaging.
SoulKu & Infinite Possibilities The word “Ku” in Japanese translates to “a place of infinite possibility.” We like to think of our company as just that, “A place where, guided by our soul’s calling, anything is possible.” Our products reflect that idea and are meant to inspire deeper connection and action in others.
Both Allison and Elisa live and create in Asheville, North Carolina, with their husbands and children and various furry friends.

A Kodak Gallery Greeting Card Alternative: SoulKu Kits
“SoulKu’s inspirational cards (which are meant to be passed from person to person and tracked online via the SoulKu website’s blog) combine current communication technology with an old fasion human touch. Within months, SoulKu’s cards and connections have reached 39 countries and 44 states, according to website records.
“We are such a high-tech, low-touch society,” Allison Blake said. “We think that if you’ve shot off a text or responded on Facebook (FB), then you have connected for the day.” But it’s also nice to have a physical product to act as a tangible reminder of our humanity,” said Elisa Van Arnam. “SoulKu is the perfect merger of the two. Based on the number of repeat orders, the notion of random acts of kindness is alive and well. Buy a SoulKu Kit and see for yourself,” says Van Arnam.
Profiting from the Photo and E-Greeting Cards Market
How much influence will Shutterfly’s acquisition of Kodak Gallery have on the personalized photo and electronic greeting card market moving forward?
According to Shutterfly, not everything from your Kodak Gallery will be moved virtually to Shutterfly. Projects (such as photo books, cards, and gifts) that are in the works will get left behind if not completed before July 2. I suspect the July 2 deadline will produce a one-time windfall to Kodak, as I know my wife is set to spend $75 on a project she initiated last year. What are your thoughts in regard to the best way to profit from the changes occurring in the greeting card industry?
